Siderúrgica Balboa, SA, is one of the leading Spanish companies in the ironworks and steelmaking sector. It was founded in Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz) in 1992 and began operating in 1996.
It converts raw ferrous materials, originating from the valuation of recycled scrap materials, into a value added product for various basic sectors of the country’s economy, including ribbed and smooth round bars. Its facilities include a steel mill and two rolling mills.

The Gallardo Group has invested some 500 million Euros in expanding the plant to some adjacent land, some 500,000 square meters, or three times that of the current plant. The new steel mill will have the annual production capacity for 1.3 million tons of steel (double the current capacity) and two rolling mills, one for larger profiles capable of producing 750,000 tons; and a mixed profile mill for medium profiles, bars and rolled wire, with a 500,000 ton capacity.
